Authors retain copyright of their work. Articles published in Social Lens are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits sharing, adaptation, distribution, and reproduction in any medium provided appropriate credit is given.

No transfer of copyright to the journal or publisher is required at any stage of the publication process.Similarly, users are allowed to "read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles" without prior permission from the publisher or the author. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under CC BY 4.0.
